Blue Jacket Park is a great place for children and adults to burn some energy. The large grassy area is perfect for playing soccer, throwing a frisbee, or having a picnic. I have found my grandsons have a blast running around what feels like endless green space and playing on the playground. They also enjoy watching the airplanes fly overhead and the birds land on the trees. The park is home to the local Track Shack running group and Zero to Fit which is a ten-week program to train beginners to run in a supportive and group-coached environment.
Bill Frederick Park sits alongside Turkey Lake and covers 183 acres of beautiful Florida scenery, including a loop path that winds past stone structures and the lake’s famous fountain. The park offers a variety of sports and recreational activities as well as tent and RV camping. There are also several picnic areas amid the tree canopy and hyper-manicured lawns.
Walking Trails

Blue Jacket Park is a 75-acre park that was formerly the Navy Training Center. Today, it’s a popular place for families to play sports and host community 5Ks. The park is home to the Lone Sailor Navy Memorial of Central Florida, which honors all Sea Service men and women. It is one of 14 Navy Memorials in the country and the only one that resides on a former Naval base.
The park also hosts several special events throughout the year, including a Mother’s Day 5K. There is no fee to use the park, but groups must reserve space in advance.
